I have to be honest, I was really nervous about reviewing this toy: I’ve seen these guys around but there’s a world of difference between acknowledging the existence of the intimate part spreader, and owning one! These spreaders aren’t like any of my other sex toys: they’re unpowered, but they’re still intimate.
Full disclosure: I’ve kind of wanted to explore medical/speculum play for a while, but I know my husband isn’t interested and so that fantasy has sat collecting dust. The intimate part spreader from Bondage Boutique, though, felt like a happy compromise: still spread and vulnerable, but perhaps a little less medical-looking!
Bondage Boutique Intimate Part Spreader: Product Description
For something so devilish, the Bondage Boutique intimate part spreader is frighteningly simple and really I have to wonder who came up with such an idea. This spreader is made with silicone covered wires with thicker parts and ridges for g-spot stimulation, and “arms” to gently spread your labia apart for oral sex and BDSM play.
Who Are Bondage Boutique?

How It Looks
If I’m being honest, I was underwhelmed by the way the Bondage Boutique intimate part spreader reached me: it’s just bagged and shipped. There’s a label with a barcode on the front which tells you what it is (in white text above the barcode). But besides that? It could be anything. There’s also no pictures or instructions either, so you have to pop back to the product page for what to do.
The top arch of the intimate part spreader is thicker with a ribbed mid-section, with smooth “arms” that hold the labia apart when in use. It does look a bit intimidating but then, I have to remind myself, it doesn’t all go inside!
Master did say that in the black colour it does look a bit like pubic hair on my lips, which is a bit unfortunate. Not a total passion killer, but unfortunate all the same.
How It Handles
Although far from the most difficult thing we’ve ever tested, the Bondage Boutique intimate part spreader is still a little bit tricky to handle – you might want to sort of bend it roughly into shape before you first install it as it becomes even trickier to handle once lubed!
Inserting the top loop was surprisingly easy, and the spreader does spring open slightly, although it doesn’t stretch the vagina like a speculum would. The arms are a little bit fiddly to bend outwards though, and you need to be careful to pinch them without accidentally pinching the labia (ouch!). For a maximum hold you want to bend the arms slightly further than they need to be, then sort of allow them to spring back on themselves a little bit. We also found it works particularly well if you tuck the rounded arms of the spreader under the labia majora slightly (we’re getting so clinical in this post!).
So the million pound question, how did it hold up in sex? It didn’t move unless pushed, and Master definitely appreciated how it kept me spread for him. It doesn’t get in the way of oral sex or clitoral stimulation, though it can be a bit obstructive for vaginal sex. That doesn’t mean to say we weren’t successful, though 😉
How It Feels
I’ve been dying to get to this section of this post because for me, the biggest impact of the Bondage Boutique intimate part spreader wasn’t physical – it was psychological. Being held open like that? It did things to my submissive psyche that I wasn’t ready for, but nonetheless thoroughly enjoyed. The vulnerability, the being unable to resist and, finally, being used when I couldn’t resist Master at all? That was very intoxicating indeed – I do so love me some consensual non-consent play!
The internal loop too, with its thickness and ridges, is incredibly internally stimulating – even with a gentle press on the arms, it rubs against and stimulates the internal parts of you that can almost overlook the indignifying predicament you’re in. Even when I protested the obscenity of this experiment, a gentle rocking of this intimate part spreader was all it took to remind me that I had plenty to benefit from, too.
Instinct is to have the arms pointing outwards, which can be a little bit uncomfortable. To counter that we found it helps to bend them inwards slightly, just after the smooth silicone ends and the ribbed pattern begins. That way, the arms better match the curves of your anatomy, but still keep your labia firmly out of the way!
Bondage Boutique Intimate Part Spreader: The Verdict
I was perhaps understandably apprehensive about this toy, but really, it opened me up (maybe too literally!) to a whole new world of experiences and sensations that I might not have otherwise tried before. I don’t know that those sensations matched my fantasies, maybe in some places, and maybe in some other they were better. It’s a little fiddly to master, but hang in there – the result is oh so worth it in the end! 4.5 stars from us.
