How It Looks
Once again, Lovehoney have opted for their blue gradient and white boxes with bold photography for this product. I really like this design, it feels a little more luxurious than the pink and white boxes. There’s no holographic text or cellophane window on the box, but that’s cool – there doesn’t need to be.
Inside the box, you receive a bag containing a USB magnetic charging cable, a Quick-Start Guide, a safety guide and of course the Lovehoney Pocket Pal Clitoral Suction Stimulator. There’s no travel bag this time, which is a bit of a shame.
I’ll admit it, when I first saw the Lovehoney Pocket Pal Clitoral Suction Stimulator I was a little perturbed by the cute penguin-like body – there’s just something a little uncomfortable about involving other species in my bedroom play. I didn’t want to refuse the opportunity to test the product and I was sure that, if I just didn’t think about it too much, we would do just fine. It’s not actually a penguin, right? So it’s no harm done.
The deep purple colour is gorgeously appealing to me, as someone who prefers purple to pink. An anecdote, but as a total science nerd I adore “potassium permanganate (solution) purple” and I once told my mother that I wanted my bedroom walls painted that colour! The Lovehoney Pocket Pal Clitoral Suction Stimulator is not that purple though; it is more indigo.
The silver base again adds a touch of luxury and class to the toy, and the white light indicates that the power is on. There are no patterns and so there is no pulsing lights on this toy, it’s just on. The light also slow blinks when the Pocket Pal is charging.
How It Handles
If you’ve read my review of the Lovehoney Rose Clitoral Suction Stimulator, you’ll know that I criticised it as being hard to hold and smoosh against my nether regions. I didn’t find that so with the Lovehoney Pocket Pal Clitoral Suction Stimulator, in fact, I was even able to hold him in my palm and grip my new friend by his “fins” just fine. Once I got over the slightly absurd idea of smooshing a penguin’s face into my most personal space, we could get down to business.
The travel lock was a bit of a fuss for me to work with and I accidentally activated it the first time, adding some frustration to my solo session when the Pocket Pal wouldn’t start. It’s fine once you know how it works, but these details aren’t things you’re likely to (or going to want to) remember when you’ve got a ticket to paradise in the palm of your hand!
Changing the speeds with my thumb was pretty easy on this toy, which is always a blessing when you’re lost in some sordid fantasy. I can’t fault the ergonomics of this toy, they’re flawless.
If I can have one tiny criticism, it’s in the clean-up. Nothing detaches from the Pocket Pal, which means that you have all of the grooves and crevices to get into and clean each time. It’s still definitely worth it, but nobody wants to spend too long washing away their dirty deeds after the act.
How It Feels
The first few speeds of the Lovehoney Pocket Pal Clitoral Suction Stimulator were all in vain and I started to wonder if it was going to be more of the same. But then we tried speed five (I think, though I forget for obvious reasons 😉 ) and Mr Penguin let me know that he is not as cute as he first appears! He made me squeal, he made me giggle and he made me feel things that I normally only feel with my husband.
Adding a little lube helps too, and with a quick slick of a Durex Play lube I could only describe my experience as “the next best thing to getting head”. Sometimes you don’t have a willing partner, and that’s where the Lovehoney Pocket Pal steps in!
