Ten Shades & Me

Rating: 2 out of 5.

NB. The language in the book is oriented towards heterosexual couples. However, to make these sex positions enjoyable for all, I will be using gender-neutral language in the appropriate sections below.

Hello Lovelies and welcome to our next sex position review!

So without further adieu, let’s check out the next position – Bottoms Up!

Why This Position:

Perfect for some deep penetration, Bottoms Up allows you unrivaled access to your partner’s deepest spots. Why not try for some lazy morning sex that’ll leave you both satisfied? We did!

Assume The Position:

The receiving partner lies on their back and places their feet on the penetrating partner’s shoulders. The penetrating partner then lifts the receiving partner’s bottom and penetrates them, vaginally or anally. The penetrating partner then thrusts into the receiving partner to a tempo thst works for both parties… or just them if that’s your kink!

His Perspective

Again, I’m really not keen on having Elena’s toe talons so close to my face, and having her leg across my chest feels like it’s blocking my access to her. She showed me the instructions, and this is what it says to do, but if feels awkward.

Lifting Elena onto me also felt a bit objectifying, she’s a human being capable of positioning herself in sex! She wanted to help but, with her arms by her side and her feet in the air, it was a bit awkward for her to do so.

I like being able to watch her in this position, but I feel denied of my wife and she doesn’t look that comfortable, which makes it unpleasant for me. We tried it, but if it’s not working for her then it’s not working for me!

We tried with Elena’s feel on the other shoulder – better, but still not perfect. We’re not sure if we’re doing it right, but we reverted to one of her feet on each of my shoulders. Now we’re getting somewhere!

Her Perspective

Master didn’t mention it, but I think I almost blacked out in this position, and not in the good way! I have cerebral ataxia, so if I’m flat on my back, I tend to feel really dizzy and sick. Feeling nauseous before we tried out a new sex position was not how I wanted this to go!

Master is kind enough to provide me with a pillow, which really helped, but also made me feel like I had a premier seat to the show!

I can;t deny it, there’s something I like about this position, submissively. It is quite submissive – I have to, pardon me, “just lie here and take it”. I can’t really push back against him, there’s nothing for me to push back against. This is about him fucking me and, y’know, I’m not against it.

I did feel things in this position, but I don’t say as they’re good things: flank pain, hip pain, stomachache? This feels more like an exercise than a sex position – a sexercise? Either way, it doesn’t feel very sexy.

We tried with my feet on Master’s other shoulder, although that added new (and initially very good!) feelings, I soon felt more of (more or less) the same. Being all twisted up was leaving me sore and short of breath, definitely not sexy at all!

So we went with one foot on either shoulder, and that was wear it was at for us – I could breathe, I didn’t feel all twisted, and Master felt like he could access me better. We named that one by the Clint Eastwood adage, “Improvise. Adapt. Overcome”.

Overall Verdict

If we hadn’t brought in our, ahem, “adaptations” then I don’t think this position would have worked for us, and so we have to review it on that. With adaptations, it got a solid 5/5, but without them, it was more of a 2/5. Sorry, Lovehoney.

Special Considerations

Be very careful of this position if your receiving partner is prone to blackouts nausea or vertigo. You might be able to make it work as we did, or you might just be better off picking a different position. For the penetrating partner, be wary of existing  back, hip and knee injuries, This position is a lot more involved for you, especially with lifting your partner onto you. Don’t feel the need to thrust hard and fast – move slowly and gently if you prefer, find what works for you!

Until next time.

One response to “Sex Position Review: Bottoms Up”

  1. It’s a twist to far for me, when your partner needs to be a gymnast or ballerina to accomplish the position for any length of time. And there are far more pleasurable positions if you are so jointed. The only benefit in this position is if your partner is close to the edge and you can use a wedge or pillow to really angle the back so your appendage can really stimulate the g-spot. The wedges are also great for other positions in the book too.

Thank you both for giving the position the old college try look forward to hearing about the next one.
