Today we’re going to be taking a look at the Icicles No 5 Sapphire Spiral 7 Inch Glass Dildo. I have to confess, I received a birthday voucher from Lovehoney last year and I excitedly picked up this glass dildo (I am a September baby, hence the sapphire selection 😉 ) with the full intention of reviewing it in due course, but then I became a sex toy tester and I got sent other products to review – as well as having other posts to write – and so this beautiful creation was left boxed and abandoned in a drawer in our bedroom until I finally had a chance to review it. Today, we’re putting that plan into action!
Another confession: glass dildos just really, really get me every time! Sure, they might not always take me to my own sexual Nirvana, just as the Icicles No 5 Sapphire 7 Inch Spiral Glass Dildo didn’t (quite!) manage to do, but they do satisfy and massage me in ways that silicone toys don’t. How It Looks
The Icicles No 5 Sapphire Spiral 7 Inch Glass Dildo comes in a box not too unlike the Lovehoney Ignite range, except, instead of foiled details, the packaging features gorgeously detailed, lightly embossed photos of the product. On the inside of the door-style front is, again, plenty of information about your new toy, as well as a cellophane window which introduces you to a dildo that is just as unique as you are!
The sapphire blue glass is beautiful too, and made made me wonder whether I really wanted to insert it or put it on display on my mantelpiece! I was sure that the clear glass “body” itself had more clarity than its Lovehoney counterparts, but on closer inspection, perhaps not.
I was grateful too that this dildo isn’t stamped with the Pipedream brand logo, unlike my Lovehoney glass dildo. I get it, they’re a company and they have to mark their products and promote their brand, but… really? I turn to Lovehoney as the supplier of my sex toys, but I don’t want to invite them into my bed with me as a company!
If I can be honest, I did feel a little disenchanted by the size of the toy. The Icicles No 5 Sapphire Spiral 7 Inch Glass Dildo really measures 6.98 inches, and that includes.the flared base. It’s slightly slimmer than some of the Lovehoney glass dildos too, which left me wondering how it was going to measure up. It’s not it’s fault, it was made that way, but still.
How It Handles
Ouch! Again, the Icicles No 5 Sapphire Spiral 7 Inch Glass Dildo is just fractionally too short for me, and in trying to keep a hold of it, I managed to nip my lip with my thumbnail – not recommended! The curve makes it nice and easy to use though, and it’s not too weighty, which makes it easier to control. Minus my little mishap, operability is actually pretty good.
How It Feels
Maybe it’s just me, but the head of these things gets me everytime, and the Icicles No 5 Sapphire Spiral 7 Inch Glass Dildo is no different. It’s the “weightier” portion of the dildo, and that added size and pressure just… does things. Very naughty things! Glass dildos are never something I want or can enjoy too fast, they are something to be enjoyed slowly; a moment savoured, like a glass of fine wine. I couldn’t really feel that beautiful blue glass spiral though, which was a shame, but that bulbous glass head? Oooh, that head…
Unfortunately and owing to its slightly lacklustre girth and length, the Icicles No 5 Sapphire Spiral Glass Dildo 7 Inch did leave me “all dressed up with nowhere to go”, and so I ended up breaking out my Lovehoney Pocket Pal Clitoral Suction Stimulator to get the job done instead (I will be so disappointed if that thing ever breaks!). The dildo feels great and definitely got the wheels in motion, but it was much better for a warm-up act than it is for the main event.

The Icicles No 5 Sapphire Spiral 7 Inch Glass Dildo is visually and uniquely tantalising, but unfortunately, it just so slightly let me down. Were it perhaps an inch longer and a little girlthier… Well then let’s be honest, I’d have probably wanted a few more inches – glass dildos just bring out the greedy girl in me! It’s beautiful to look at and the head of the toy definitely left me wanting more, but the product needs to be just fractionally bigger to achieve what it wants ro achieve. A wonderful addition to our toy collection, but as a sidepiece, rather than the star of the show. 4/5.
