Yes, bondage really can be comfortable!
Hello Lovelies and welcome back to another sex toy review.
Today, we are going to be taking a look at the Soft Bondage Spreader Bar from Honey Play Box!
I have to be honest, I’d never heard of Honey Play Box before, but today, all of that changed. Honey Play Box were founded in 2016 and ship internationally, from their headquarters in California!
Fiona from Honey Play Box reached out as she wanted our input on matters to do with BDSM. Of course we were more than happy to collaborate with Honey Play Box – we enjoy working with absolutely anyone who wants to work with us!
Unfortunately, Honey Play Box have removed a whole bunch of BDSM toys (including this spreader bar) from their website at the moment, due to a site revamp. I’m hoping to see them come back soon though – I’ve already set my sights on some more of their kinky products!
Alrighty then, let’s get on with the review!
A Note on Shipping
Before we review the product, I feel it’s important to provide some information on my experience with shipping from Honey Play Box. I confirmed our chosen product to review on 28th June 2024 and it was shipped to us five days later, on 3rd July. The product was shipped with DHL and arrived six days later, via Evri/Hermes. According to the Honey Play Box website, shipping to the UK takes 7-15 days, so 11 days in all is about right. Packaging was totally discreet with a thick, white padded envelope and no dodgy labels – we 100% commend Honey Play Box for their shipping!
Soft Bondage Spreader Bar: Product Description
When Fiona asked me to pick a product to review, I was totally taken by this soft spreader bar. Being someone with a chronic pain condition, this product had me sold at “soft”. Having velco cuffs as well, I knew that this was going to be a comfortable (and kinky!) bondage experience for me – I couldn’t wait to give this spreader bar a review!
The Soft Bondage Spreader Bar Measures 55 x 5cm and has four velcro cuffs – 2 ankle cuffs at each end, and two wrist cuffs in the middle. Made from vinyl and neoprene, the soft spreader bar is both sturdy and comfortable to use.

How It Looks
Opinions are divided on the packaging for the Soft Bondage Spreader Bar – I personally quite like it (being the daughter of a late beekeeper and a big bee lover, I love the adorable little bee that is the Honey Play Box logo!), but Matt thinks it’s lacking and could be better. There is a perfectly good quality photo of the product on the gloss-finish box, and text telling you about the product and its safe use, so I’m really not sure what more he expects!
The soft spreader bar itself is packed inside a simple sealed clear bag with a silica gel sachet – totally acceptable product packaging if you ask me!
The Soft Bondage Spreader Bar looks quite fitting with our existing Black Rose bondage collection, but it features an attractive geometric pattern, rather than a floral design. White stitching on black vinyl frames the design nicely, giving it a more stylish and modern look. I also like that this triangular pattern is unisex, appealing to a much wider audience.

How It Handles
Fresh out of the box, the Soft Bondage Spreader Bar is rather stiff. However, if you flex the cuffs a little, they become much easier to work with. The stiffness I put down to its being a new toy, rather than the product design, and I should imagine that it will soften up with more use.
Unfortunately, the first problem that we encountered was that this soft spreader bar is not made for those of us with a bit more meat on our bones. Even for Matt, who is an average-build footballer (with very tasty calf muscles!), the ankle cuffs were a tight fit. Whilst this spreader bar seems sturdy and well made, it sadly seems made to fit individuals with a slimmer build.
The other issue we found is that there is no bar in this “Soft Bondage Spreader Bar” – the packaging mentions nickel-free hardware but we’re not sure where it’s at! This “Soft Bondage Spreader Bar” is more of a wrist-to-ankle restraint set. Still fun, I’m sure, but not what we were expecting.
How It Feels
Aside from our issues with the sizing and build of this Soft Bondage Spreader Bar, it is generally quite comfortable. Matt questioned how it could be “comfortable” for anyone to be fastened with their wrists to their ankles, and I pointed out what a lovely and considerate Dominant he is to care so much for his submissive’s comfort – she really is one very lucky girl! 😉
The neoprene is comfortable on my wrist and doesn’t rub, which is a bonus. Actually, I think I even prefer this style of cuff to something with a faux fur lining as it doesn’t tickle and accidentally cause spasms in my hand – things to note for future reference!
Soft Bondage Spreader Bar: The Verdict
I really had my hopes out for this Soft Bondage Spreader Bar as it seemed like it would be something new and exciting (and helpful!) to add to our toy collection. Unfortunately, because of the sizing issue, it will probably end up being rehomed in due course. It’s a lovely idea and well made, and the service and shipping from Honey Play Box has been great, but it just doesn’t quite meet our needs or expectations. For that reason, it gets three out of five stars – plus a star back for the amazing customer service!
