If you didn't know, Matt and I are quite fans of the Bondage Boutique Black Rose collection from Lovehoney. Both economically and visually pleasing, the collection has rapidly grown in our closet and has become a staple in our bedroom repertoire. Although not used so often these days, I still have the Black Rose wrist cuffs, ankle cuffs and collar because, well, I might want them one day for asthetic purposes. and wouldn't it just be such a shame if I didn't have them anymore? The braided design of this flogger looked a bit more vicious than perhaps I was really ready for, but the know-all masochist in me told me that I might like it anyway. Plus, what good sub can resist buying their Dom a shiny new thing to hit them with?
So it was bought.
Flogging is something that Matt and I have enjoyed for many years now and we've even got quite a few in our collection. From a soft, sweeping rubber flogger, a weightier suede flogger and even a leather and steel dildo flogger, Matt has something to elicit every one of my gasps and moans. Whilst by no means his favourite, the Bondage Boutique Black Rose flogger has definitely seen more than its fair share of outings!

However, the Bondage Boutique Black Rose flogger is made from high-quality soft PU leather, giving it the softness of real leather without the guilt or price tag!
The Bondage Boutique Black Rose flogger is an elegant lightweight faux leather flogger with braided falls and a modern black-on-black floral print handle. Measuring a total length of 32 inches, the Bondage Boutique Black Ross flogger is a wonderful treat for the sensualists among.
How It Looks
Appearance was undoubtedly the first thing that drew me to the Bondage Boutique Black Rose flogger. With the braided falls and the feathered tips, I knew that it was just something we had to try. The black rose-patterned handle is subtle, and yet it brings it in together with the rest of the Black Rose collection. When displayed among an assortment of other toys within the range, it is definitely the one that most catches your gaze!
How It Handles
There can be no dispute that the Bondage Boutique Black Rose flogger is lightweight, it's probably one of (if not the!) lightest floggers we own. With that being said, then even in spite of its lightness, it still handles quite well. It doesn't fall too heavy on the skin because there is no real weight behind it, making it more satisfying for those with a lower pain threshold and those wishing not to mark or be marked. The handle has a slight squishiness to it too, making it comfortable and enjoyable to use. The wriststrap secures your grip, making it easy to handle this flogger however you so desire. Flog your partner or just stroke and tease instead, the choice is all yours!
One caveat - the longer, 29-inch falls require some consideration in smaller spaces and could also be more challenging for those who are not yet used to usimg floggers safely. For a light, tickling, sensation play session then this flogger is perfect, but for a dedicated flogging session, be sure you have plenty of room!
How It Feels
Considering the braided falls, the Bondage Boutique Black Rose flogger looks like it could be quite painful. However, because of the lightweight structure of this flogger, the actual impact tends to be relatively soft. It does still deliver a slight stinging, scratchy sensation (I put the latter down to the build material) and create a nice rosy flush, but it's nonetheless quite enjoyable if you enjoy S&M play. Because of the feathered tips, it's also quite delightful used to tantalise your partner's skin ahead of whatever else you have in mind!
Bondage Boutique Black Rose Flogger: The Verdict
Whilst this flogger is lightweight and that would make it easier for beginners, we definitely agreed that the Bondage Boutique Black Rose flogger belongs within the "intermediate" range of BDSM toys. It's longer than some which can make it harder to control if you're not yet used to flogging, and the braided, feathered falls are definitely not for those who have never explored BDSM play before. Build up to this beauty by all means, but please don't start out with it.
In all we both gave this flogger a solid 4 out out 5 stars, taking off one star because it is quite light. It's great once you've started exploring flogging, but if you've been flogging a while, you'll probably want more!
