Hey Twisties,

Not long ago I saw this beautiful "mask" blindfold on Google images and I just had to have it! It looked good, with the criss-cross strap style, it looked just like the kind of thing that I would go for. I showed it to Matt and he was keen too, so I paid for it and anxiously waited.

Two weeks later it still hadn't arrived. Strange, but okay, I won't panic yet. Some tracking information would be good maybe, but all I had was the Paypal confirmation email. Well okay.

The Fun Begins

Eventually a sad-looking grey packet arrives through my door, though there's no initial indication as to what might be inside. I look at the postage label and there it reads, in the customs declaration: Adult games.

A oackage from Showing a customs declaration reading "adult games"

Adult games!

My postman is a lovely chap, a little older than me though not by much, and we have some pretty good chemistry. It's not so much that I'll be unwrapping his package anytime soon by any means, but it's definitely enough that we get along anytime he delivers to us. He's used to my ordering aquatic stuff, and if he's not rushed then he even takes an interest in some quick tank talk, too.

So it's enough that I quiet enjoy the respect that he has for me, and it's definitely enough that I don't want him knowing that I've been shopping for things just made for dirty little girls. Most adult stores do discreet packaging for this very reason, and when Pelie failed, they were in for a tough old time from me. It's not too bad for me, but for some people with dodgy neighbours or flatmates, not-discreat packaging can cause serious problems. That's a star off already, Pelie.

First Thoughts

Now that I have it in my hands, nothing about this "mask" feels very sturdy. It's made from two straps that are joined with two smaller straps, linked and finished with a bit of ironmongery and a few more straps to fasten it on. Putting it on is difficult to do because nothing about this mask stays in place as you move it and so you have to sort of flop it onto your face instead, which is hardly the most dignifying or sexy thing to do.

The straps are lined, though barely, with a sort of flock feel liner. The edges are rounded, though still thin enough to cut in to the bridge of your nose. Matt also noticed that the rings weren't welded shut and are quite easy to pull open, making this mask, essentially, a piece of fashionable crap. For poor build quality and finish I'm taking a star. The fact that this mask could have had more to make it more... mask-y? That's two.

Trying It On

If you've ever seen someone cross two elestic bands across their head, then you know how this mask looks. The result was so hideous that I wasn't even prepared to share it on my blog. The unwelded metal doesn't bite, which is a reprieve, but nothing else about this mask felt comfortable. When I buy equipment I look for comfort and durability, so if it's not comfortable to use for an hour or so then it's a no from me. Not only do I want my masks and blindfiolds to be comfortable but I also want them to not mark. I could almost feel the red welt developing across the bridge of my nose merely moments after putting this mask on. That's another star.

It does block out most of the light, though I'm not sure whether it actually did block out the light or whether wearing two tight, pependicular PU leather bands around your face would have that effect, regardless. I think I'm going to go for the latter here.

Listen, I'm always up for a good bargain, but when it comes to your BDSM gear, I firmly believe that if it seems too good to be true then it probably is. Don't cheap out on your pleasure; a rough edge here or a strap that'll break under the slightest pull there, is it really worth it? I might be reverting to my beloved Black Rose blindfold from here on but then maybe, just maybe, there's a reason for that.

As for Pelie? Once bitten, twice as shy. I only wish I'd checked out the TrustPilot reviews beforehand!

That's it from me for this post! Have you shopped with before? What was your experience like? Why not share your thoughts in the comments?

Until next time!
