Who Are Pjur?

Founded in Germany by Alexander Giebel in 1995, Pjur has grown in popularity across the world. Headquartered in Luxembourg with production in other countries, Pjur proves to be an excellent alternative to rival brands.

What’s In Pjur Woman Lust?

It’s scary when you see a list of ingredients that don’t make sense, that’s why I’ve done my homework and found out what all these funky names mean:

Aqua (water) – Good ol’ H2O.

Glycerin – Glycerin is a derivative of fat used to maintain moisture in the product. Since glycerin may or may not be vegan, it is worth paying attention to other labels. Unfortunately, there are no indications that Pjur Woman Lust is vegan.

Polysorbate 80 – polysorbate 80 is a synthetic emulsifier used to combine oils in water.

Aroma (Fragrance) – another unfortunate ingredient, tthis product contains fragrance. Fragrances can be both natural or synthetic, and may cause side effects in some people.

Spilanthes Acmella Flower Extract – sometimes known as “the toothache plant”, Spilanthes Acmella flower extract causing a buzzing, tingling sensation when exposed to the body’s mucus membranes, namely due to the compound spilanthol.

Xanthan Gum – naturally-occurring through a fermentation process of sugar with Xanthomonas campestris bacteria, xanthan gum is used as a thickener in food and cosmetics.

Niacinamide – a type of Vitamin B3, Niacinamide is found in a number of our foods, including meat, eggs and vegetables. Niacinamide helps to care for your intimate skin.

Sodium Benzoate – Sodium Benzoate is a sodium-salt that is used as a preservative to prevent mold growth. It is found naturally in some fruits.

Sodium Saccharin – Sodium Saccharin is a laboratory-made artificial sweetener. It helps to give the lubricant a sweet taste for oral sex, without causing the problems that glycerin-containing lubricants sometimes cause for women.

Citric acid – Commonly found in citrus fruits like oranges and lemons, citric acid helps to adjust the pH of the final product, helping it to align more closely with a woman’s vagina. It can also act as a preservative, prolonging the life of the product.

 How It Looks

The bottle itself is small, slim and perfectly pocket-sized, making it ideal for some fun on the go. We’ve also got our no-mess pump cap back again, which I love to see.

One thing: I was definitely not ready for the colour of this gel! I’m not sure what I was expecting (probably just another clear gel like the lubricants) but I was definitely not ready for something that is seaweed green!

I want to pay brief attention to how the Pjur Lust Woman vibrating orgasm gel smells as well because it has quite a fruity-herbal fragrance, possibly due to the presence of aroma. It’s not an unpleasant fragrance but it can be quite potent if you happen to be in the area where it was applied, it also seems to linger on the skin.

How It Handles

Again I really like the easy pump camp on this bottle; it’s easy to use and no-mess. The Pjur Woman Lust bottle is perfectly palm-sized too, making it great for getaways.

The online instructions read “1 to 3 pumps directly to the clitoris”, which admittedly topk me by surprise,.so I’m really glad to see that Pjur have done away with such clinical instructions on the actual product itself. indeed, the Pjur Woman Lust vibrating gel bottle simply states that 1-3 pumps is “enough”.

This gel does leave a horrendous green stain if it gets on your sheets, which you will need to wash out properly. It does come out though, which is a relief, but it doesn’t initially dry clear and inconspicious like the lubricants do.

How It Feels

I have to be honest and say that I was quite anxious about trying this product, and for two reasons: first of all, it contains glycerin, which seems to have been the bane of my sexual past. Secondly, I’ve had experience with genital torture (in BDSM) before, and it’s not one of my personal kinks. Previous reviewers had mentioned it feeling a bit like Tabasco sauce applied to the clit, which had me somewhat unsettled. Still, the things we kinky sex bloggers do.

At first this product just felt like any old lube, but then things started to change. My clit felt disticntively warmer and a distinctive humming-buzzing sensation set in – I felt somewhat intimately violated, but in a way that did turn me on. I tried masturbating in my same usual way but the sensation was distracting me. Did it enhance my orgasm when it happened? I can’t say that it did, but neither did it prevent it.

I didn’t develop a UTI either, which I’m incredibly grateful for!

Pjur Woman Lust Vibrating Orgasm Gel: The Verdict

Overall an interesting experience but not something I’m likely to repeat again. The colour is off-putting, the fragrance is distracting, the burning sensation is definitely there and I should imagine that if consumed (even slightly) during oral sex, it’s probably going to make your mouth start buzzing, which could be rather distracting! That said, I do think it does give a sensation for those who are otherwise lacking and so it may enhance pleasure for some women. The bottle is nicely sized too, and I do love the pump caps. Overall, I think it’s worthy of a generous 4 stars – I’m keeping a star away for that horrendous colour!
